Yes, as weird as this word looks it is a word. Although it appears to be a compound word I assure you it is not… it is a word that stands alone and is actually a fun word to use.
Chockablock’s first unknown use was during 1850 as a nautical term/ rhyming phrase meaning the two blocks and tactical found on the vessels seaman were work on. [Definition Found HERE]
Now-a-days the word has taken a completely different turn. Chockablock means full, jammed, or overly crowded. This is also believed to be the word that led to the formation of the wordย chockfulย (likeย chockful of information).
Here are some ways of using the word:
I am chockablock of information on weird words.
Or…
This room is chockablock of people.

Hmmm. Maybe the current meaning comes from the gear being sort of heavy and cumbersome? “Chockablock full” is how i usually think of it, meaning (for me) sorta heavy and overwhelmed with stuff or pressing duties. Interesting roots. Thanks for enabling reblogging. And just tell me if i’m sponging too much. ๐

Yes, that’s a good way to think about it. I rather use the work chock-full but chockablock is just too fun to say sometimes. ๐

Maybe cos i’m older i like the olde style better. My dad went to UCC and our fam has a history of “education” so that might be it. Or maybe not. Hard to know just where our inclinations and preferences come from.

Influences come from all places. It’s hard to narrow down on where certain ones come from.

Also, I don’t mind people reblogging. I take it as a compliment that someone has found my post worthy to share. ๐

Thanks. We shall have to wait and see. I don’t mind being where I am right now. Although I wouldn’t mind working in a field where I can share my passion with others… Eventually that may happen. Who knows? ๐

You remind me a bit of Avicii, the EDM star. He’s soooo young, in his 20s, around the same age as you, I would imagine. He’s already hit the top, being produced/assisted by Nigel Rogers (a major industry mogul who helped Bowie with “China Girl”). Well, I dabble in electronic music but the young Avicii blows my mind. When I looked at your listings at Amazon, I got a similar feeling. Very impressive.

How did you get the cover art for your novel? I remember reading something but didn’t really understand. I like it a lot.

I got in contact with a cover artist company called ELaunch. They were fantastic, professional, and took everything I asked for to make my cover work. I’ll going with them again for my second book. ๐
