Hello World Out There World!
As of the start of this week I began the new adventure of working as an executive assistant for a non-profit. Everything about this job I love so far. I’m building the position with the owner, I’m able to use all my strongest skills from my creativity to my social media knowledge to my office experience. I get to meet a variety of different people with all kinds of backgrounds while helping help my boss help the underdog.
The other thing I like about this job is its flexibility and the innovative work space. There is at least 40 small local companies in the building and the majority of them have open/ shared floor offices. All these businesses work together like a little community helping one another with ideas and using everyone’s skills to work towards success.
It took me know time to fall in love with the place and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to stay on after my 12 week trial is complete because I think I found where I fit. Non-profit and innovative work places. Who knew!
The only downside I can find to my current work situation is the construction going on above my head all day. I love the little office I get to work in. There is a lot of natural light and original wood floors/ pillars. It is a good mix of old meets new here… but the whole building isn’t like that. Since the owner of the building took control the only working floors is 2 and 4… so floor 1 and 3 are a construction nightmare. Lucky for them I can handle working in loud places… being teacher trained and all… but sometimes it gets so loud that even a Buddhist monk would lose his shit.
Hopefully they will be done the floors above my head soon… keeping my fingers crossed.
With that said, what is one thing you are happy about this week? Mention it in the comments below and until next time toodles!! :3

Same. I’m hoping I can stay on or find some way to at least stay with the people I’m working with. π

I’m so happy you’re enjoying what you’re doing, Deanna! That’s so exciting! And construction can be really frustrating. I’ve dealt with that before at home and at work. *sigh* Are you allowed to wear headphones perhaps?
As for what I’m happy about this week: I tested my creativity skills in the form of song writing, singing, and video compilations. :p It was really exciting! (A giant use of my time that was meant for school but… you gotta enjoy the little things, right? Hee hee!)

Ooo. How did the song writing go? Do you play an instrument or did you make the music on the computer? I want to hear more about this. XD

Haha! I just recorded myself singing the lyrics I wrote over a karaoke track of a song. :p But my laptop has horrible recording capabalities. So, it was pretty bad! Though, the other members of my Slikerin house seemed to like it. So, that’s all that matters. ^.^

It has been fun so far! We only just started. So, I can’t say what the rest of it will be like. Any interest in taking part? You’re only expected to do as much (or as little) as you have time for. No pressure!

Awesome! I’m very happy for you. I knew a woman once who worked for an NGO. Actually two, come to think of it! I saw each in their respective offices and could sense they were far more relaxed than the usual setup. Be good and get called back! π

It isn’t the matter of call back it is a matter of funding. They want to keep me forever if they could…
